The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have permanently scarred our contemporary society. The ramifications of this have driven many into a state of loneliness & depression. In this bleak scenario, finding a glimmer of hope can be difficult. Therefore, special appreciation must be given to those, who step out of their comfort zone to lift the spirit of others.

I’ve been lucky enough to be working with a person just like that. My co-host, Arjun Singh, recently released an album called “Abichal Nagar” that aims at establishing a state of calm and peace within our chaotic contemporary society. The following article is just a token of appreciation for Arjun’s efforts and his persistence in dreaming of a hopeful future.

Since the very beginning of our podcast partnership, Arjun has been highly intrigued by the idea of spirituality. I can remember countless discussions, where he has pitched random ideas about connecting people with themselves in a surreal sort of way. Something that is not quite meditation but leaves the same effect once the process is finished. I believe that this “need” along with his passion for music led him to create this masterpiece of an album.

Let’s dive into the details right now.

In Conversation with The Author

As mentioned above, the album takes its listeners into a world of sensations. The music has been purposely selected to disconnect you from your reality and connect with something bigger. Some might refer to this as a divine journey, while others might call it a relaxing experience. Regardless, the music aims to amplify the feeling of “liveliness” through its finely picked vibrations and melodies.

What is more, the name of the album “Abichal Nagar” does justice with what it offers. When asked regarding the importance & significance of this name, Arjun responded with the following:

“ For me, Abichal Nagar is nothing different than a state of mind. It’s a place, a location. Not a physical one, but something that can be visited. Many have gone there before and with the availability of correct resources, many will keep visiting.” — Arjun Singh

So, it’s clear that the album wants us to travel to this “sub-conscious” location and its music forms the afore-mentioned “correct resources” that’ll take us there. To dive more into the “what(s)” & the “how(s)”, I asked Arjun to describe his Abichal Nagar. In other words, how would he describe the very state he achieved through this?

“ It’s a place where time & place holds still. Think of it as the moment just before the Big Bang happened. A place where everything is calm and silent. You can almost separate yourself from your thoughts as you glide away into this spiritual oblivion. Space & time are irrelevant here.” — Arjun Singh

Therefore, the album is a journey. We start from point A, which is your current state of mind and we travel to point B or Abichal Nagar, which is our final destination. The medium of transportation that Arjun chose for this album has an interesting story as well.

“Growing up, I was a massive fan of Harry Potter. I remember binging all the movies and actually learning quite a lot from them. One scene which I remember the most is from the very first movie. It’s the train scene. The way that train magically transports all the students to Hogwarts seems so exciting and surreal. As the journey to Abichal Nagar is similar, I knew that I had to embed a train ride to my album.” — Arjun Singh

So, in short, the album is full of exciting sound effects and vibrations that’ll give you the feeling of a spiritual journey. Now that we’ve established a bit of a background story, it’s time to talk about the album itself.

A Musical Journey

The album consists of seven tracks each offering its own unique meaning. The listener might grasp distinct messages from each track but will easily connect the dots as to how they all appeal to one notion — oneness with the divine.

The songs do not promote any religious beliefs or ideologies but are heavily influenced by the message of Sikhism. Being a practicing Sikh himself, Arjun was able to implement his learnings into this creative project. The result is a concoction of spirituality, mindfulness, and peace.

Check it Out

While I can sit here and write a million good things about this album, it won’t do any justice to Arjun’s actual message. The only way for you guys to really experience the magic of Abichal Nagar is by embarking on this journey yourself. So, I would highly encourage you guys to follow the link below and check the album out for yourself. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.

If you’ve already heard the album, then Arjun’s got a surprise for you. This is just one of the five-part series Arjun is planning for next year. Yes, that’s correct! There will be more music fueled with a similar kind of passion and inspiration. So, let’s just sit tight and keep waiting.
